Welcome to my Blog page! For the past 28 years I have been buying, building, remodeling and redesigning homes from the West Coast to the East Coast. I guess you could say I have a passion for "All things home". I began "staging" before I even knew what it was. After much encouraging, cajoling and flat out pestering, by friends and family, I decided put a name to this "home fetish" of mine and called it The Humble Abode.

A while back I completed an amazing accreditation program from, HSR, Home Stagers Resource, and I highly recommend it to any of you looking to start your own Home Staging & Redesign Business.

The heart of The Humble Abode is to feature the wares of our local Artist's and Craftsman, from the Charleston, SC and surrounding area's, in every home I stage. I have the privilege of being acquainted with so many talented and creative people and I am excited to give them an entirely new venue to display their talent!

Redesign is the most satisfying part of my business. I really enjoy working with people looking to create beautiful, organized restful spaces in their homes by getting a thorough understanding of their lifestyles, tastes and needs.

Stagin in the is always of process of education. Researching the demographics of an area to create a marketable product to help sellers get the most out of their investment. In the Charleston, SC area, there is so much new construction, that the seller with the older home, needs to present that "model home feel" in order to compete in today's market. The last home that I was privileged to stage was on a minuscule budget(lets say microscopic). It was on the market for 4 months before I got my hands on it and with in 7 days of being staged it had an offer! So don't be deterred by your budget. I love a good challenge! What is Staging?

Home Staging is the preparation of a home to sell by a trained professional who specializes in understanding the buyer demographic and preparing homes to sell. Many definitions you have seen no doubt stop after the word “sell” and that is part of the big misconception and devaluation of home staging. Some Realtors and home sellers will say that they have already “staged” their homes only to find that they will be lowering their price within the month. There is a vast difference between a home that was simply de-cluttered and cleaned and one that was professionally staged! Creating the “model home” look is not easily achieved without the help of someone who does this everyday for a living.
